At Yikes Tikes! we present children with an expansive range of perspectives by welcoming children of varied developmental abilities, ethnicities and economic backgrounds. We combine a range of age groups in our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, helping children develop empathy, understanding, acceptance and respect for the differences of others. YIkes Tikes! teaches children self-confidence, a sense of belonging, and appreciation for personal uniqueness, emulating and celebrating the diversity of the Bay Area and the world beyond.
Yikes Tikes! provides a high-quality, inclusive early learning environment for children ages 24 to 57 months. Our state-of-the-art program allows each child to reach his or her full potential through curiously engaging with the world. We recognize each child as the primary agent of his or her own learning, bringing parents, children, teachers, and the environment together to set the stage for lifelong learning and school success for all children. Yikes Tikes! takes its inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach to preschool education, which gives parents, teachers and children equal voice in the learning experience.
Our staff is comprised of early childhood education specialists, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists, who work as a team to provide rich learning environments for Yikes Tikes! children. Our teachers observe the children’s interests and join them in constructing an understanding of the world. In order to observe and respond accurately to children’s interests, we maintain the 1:4 teacher-to-child ratio recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
In order to make our program available to all children, we offer discounted rates for families that demonstrate economic need. Yikes Tikes! is located in Fremont, San Jose, Los Altos and Redwood City. The programs in Los Altos, San Jose, and Redwood City are taught bilingually in English and Spanish.
